ബെയ്ജിങ്: ഐവറി കോസ്റ്റ് ഫുട്‌ബോള്‍ താരം ഷെയ്ക് ടിയോത്തെ പരിശീലനത്തിനിടെ മരിച്ചു. ആറ് വര്‍ഷം പ്രീമിയര്‍ ലീഗ് ക്ലബ്ബ് ന്യൂകാസില്‍ യുനൈറ്റഡിന്റെ താരമായിരുന്ന ടിയോത്തി ചൈനീസ് ക്ലബ്ബ് ബെയ്ജിങ് എന്റര്‍പ്രൈസസില്‍ പരിശീലനം നടത്തുന്നതിനിടെ കുഴഞ്ഞുവീഴുകയായിരുന്നു. ഉടന്‍ ആശുപത്രിയിലെത്തിച്ചെങ്കിലും 30-കാരന്റെ ജീവന്‍ രക്ഷിക്കാനായില്ല. മിഡ്ഫീല്‍ഡറായി കളിച്ചിരുന്ന ടിയോത്തെ നാലു മാസം മുമ്പാണ് ചൈനീസ് ലീഗിലേക്ക് കൂടുമാറിയത്. ഭാര്യ മദാഹ് ഈ ആഴ്ച പ്രസവിക്കാനിരിക്കെയായിരുന്നു തിയോത്തെയുടെ മരണം.
ഐവറി കോസ്റ്റിനു വേണ്ടി 52 രാജ്യാന്തര മത്സരങ്ങള്‍ കളിച്ചിട്ടുള്ള ടിയോത്തെ 2010, 2014 ലോകകപ്പുകളിലും രാജ്യത്തെ പ്രതിനിധീകരിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. ഐവറി കോസ്റ്റിലെ അപ്രശസ്തമായ എഫ്.സി ബിബോയിലൂടെ ഫുട്‌ബോള്‍ കരിയര്‍ ആരംഭിച്ച താരം പിന്നീട് ബെല്‍ജിയന്‍ ക്ലബ്ബ് ആന്ദര്‍ലെച്തിലേക്കും അവിടെ നിന്നു ഡച്ച് ക്ലബ്ബ് ട്വന്റിയിലേക്കും കൂടുമാറി. 2010-ലാണ് ന്യൂകാസിലില്‍ ചേരുന്നത്. ന്യൂകാസിലിനു വേണ്ടി 139 മത്സരങ്ങള്‍ കളിച്ചു. ഈ വര്‍ഷമാണ് ചൈനീസ് ലീഗിലേക്ക് മാറിയത്.

വൈകുന്നേരം ആറു മണി നേരത്തെ പരിശീലനത്തിനിടെയാണ് ഫുട്‌ബോള്‍ ലോകത്തെ അമ്പരപ്പിച്ച ഷെയ്ക് ടിയോത്തിയുടെ മരണം. ഹൃദയാഘാതമാണ് മരണ കാരണം എന്നാണ് സൂചന. ഏഴു മണിയോടെ മരണം സ്ഥിരീകരിച്ചു. ബന്ധുക്കളെ വിവരമറിയിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടെന്നും കുടുംബത്തിന്റെ സ്വകാര്യത മാനിച്ച് കൂടുതല്‍ കാര്യങ്ങള്‍ വെളിപ്പെടുത്തുന്നില്ലെന്നും ബെയ്ജിങ് എന്റര്‍പ്രൈസസ് അറിയിച്ചു.
